PRESIDENT John Magufuli yesterday realigned Permanent Secretaries (PSs)
and their deputies in attempt to improve efficiency and increase
productivity.
Dr Magufuli also appointed three new
Regional Commissioners (RCs) and promoted three District Commissioners
to RC slots. Announcing the new appointments in Dar es Salaam, Chief
Secretary Engineer Kijazi said the President had promoted four deputies
to full PSs and appointed seven new deputies.
The newly appointed PSs and their
portfolios in brackets are former Clerk of the National Assembly Thomas
Kashililah (Agriculture), Susan Mkapa (Finance and Planning), Prof
Joseph Buchweshaija (Trade and Investment), Nicholas William
(Information, Culture, Arts and Sports), Butamo Philiph
(Vice-President’s Office).
Moreover, one Permanent Secretary and
four deputy secretaries has been relocated to other ministries. The
President has also appointed former Inspector General of Police Ernest
Mangu and PS in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa
Cooperation, Dr Azizi Mlimwa ambassadors whose posts will be
communicated later.
For RCs, Rukwa, Manyara and Geita
regions come under new faces, Joachim Wangabo, Alexander Mnyeti and
Robert Gabriel, respectively, taking over from their retired
predecessors.
He also effected changes in three
regions, appointing Adam Malima, Christine Mdeme and Ladislaus Biankanwa
the new RCs for Mara, Dodoma and Mtwara, respectively.
They take over from Charles Mlingwa (Mara), Jordan Rugimbana (Dodoma) and Halima Dendegu (Mtwara) who have been elbowed out.
